Jacksonville (Reedy Branch Location) Stole my $150.00 floor mat

Where to begin? I worked at the Reedy Branch Haircuttery location for over a year. A new manager came to work there and all of a sudden, people who had worked at this location for many years were fired left and right.

One of my closest co-workers decided that this was to be her last night as she had had it.

We closed the shop at the scheduled closing, as well as, all required paperwork for that evening and she packed up her belongings.

I too packed up my belongings, as I always did when I did not have to be at work the next day. (reason being, my co-workers would use my belongings when I wasn't there so I would always pack my stuff up when I left)

When I reported to work on my scheduled day my floor mat was missing and the manager stated that when she came in it was missing. She tried to imply that my friend that quit must have taken it.

I filed a police report but there was nothing that could be done. I received a phone call a few days later from a coworker who stated that one of the girls admitted to taking it with the attitude that I had forgotten it when I quit (her words).

The coworker that told me this info. Did not want to come forward on my behalf and quit about 3 weeks later.
In the meantime I had called corporate several times and basically was told that since I had not returned to work and the manager stated that there was no floor mat when she reported to work there was nothing they could/would do.

I sent a certified letter to the owner, Dennis Ratner only to find out that the letter was intercepted by the H.R. Dept. Telling me in writing that there was nothing to be done.

I live less than a mile from that location and look in the window occasionally and I see my floor mat in use. The co-worker that called to tell me of the admission also told me that the floor mat was now in use (3 weeks after the incident.

I made several calls to the district leader and not once did she call me.

Needless to say I had to buy another floor mat and it definetly has given me a bad taste about haircuttery.
