I have been in Dell H*l. Ordering it was sheer aggravation. I am a small business and have ordered from Dell that way; this time they told me I did not qualify for small business status and prices. Many calls later, it was confirmed I AM A SMALL BUSINESS plus they have a special division for my type of business!
Bought the Dell computer Jan; on July 3rd 2006 the hard drive crashed while still under warranty. They said they would send a "new" hard drive but it never arrived. A few days later, I got a voice mail stating that Dell was "out" of hard drives and I had to wait for a shipment.
I demanded the next day service for which I paid several hundred dollars. They said there was no next day service on hardware unless the consumer couldn't do the work themselves. Finally they sent a REFURBISHED hard drive and it was the wrong one for my computer. They sent the wrong hard drive 2 more times. This took about 30 days and MANY HOURS of calls. They disputed everything I said.
I finally reached someone in Dell Round Rock Texas escalation team; he sent me a new Inspiron 640m. The keyboard didn't work right, but since I had missed so much work, I kept it. Now the screen flashes too. So I called the next-day repair department; two days later I get a voice mail from the local repair company. They sent someone out a week later and replaced the screen and the keyboard. Two months later the screen started flashing again - to hell with it.
The state of NY Attorney General has filed a class action lawsuit for the same practices I went through in NH.
