Dell
Extremely Poor Service. Will not follow thru to fix computer issues. Online

Dell computers is terrible. I have nothing against foreigners, per say, however, when I call an USA based company I fully expect to speak to someone who can speak English. This is my language and I am not even offerred "para Espanol, press numero dos" - how annoying is that, too.

These employees of Dell must take 3 repetitive efforts to allow me to piece-meal together what they are trying to say, against thier native tongue.

My issue is that my desktop is running abnormally slow. I called my ISP (high speed) and they could not find a reason why. I believe they put in a real effort to find a clue, but could not. They say I may have a virus and should call the manufacturer - Dell.

I called Dell and left a voicemail. I got a call back the next day and I, for the life of me, could not understand what this guy was saying to me. To get to the point, he could NOT fix the problem, actually he wiped out my Internet Explorer, compeletly, and could not get my system up and running again. He left me on hold (without the music - I thought I was hung up on with the dead air for 10 minutes, but didn't want to hang up without getting THIS guy to fix what HE did. He called back and I could tell he was totally lost. He did "technician takeover" when he wiped out the IE and did so again multiple times to no avail. After calling back, he then Resets my computer to get the IE back up. He reset it back one month... This wiped out all of our Christmas photos of our 2 babies, amongst others, after he reset it. There is NO WAY to save them now, they are gone.

I asked what to do now. He said buy McAfee Virus program. I said that I have others downloaded. He said "No, those don't work with Dell, only McAfee works with Dell products". I was upset that this little piece of info was never stated to me when I bought the system. He was speechless. Then asked if there was anything else he could do. I said NO, you didn't fix anything and kept me on the phone for nearly 2 hours total, and then deleted precious photos and other files. Why did he not just preset the date ONE DAY back, why did he go one MONTH back?

I got the automatic DELL SURVEY email, and I ripped into them. I get a phone call two days later, I am thinking "hey, they read the survey and are calling to rectify this". But no, the guy had no clue of the survey, and in his foreing tongue, asks me if my problem has been taken care of — hell, this is a phone survey now. So, I tell him the issues. He sounded as though he was going to laugh, but said "I can't help you. I think we will have to send a technician to your home". That sounded good. He said "what is a good time to reach you tomorrow (Friday)". I said b/w 10-5 EST, that I worked early and late, but would be free in mid day. He said someone would call then.

He confirmed the times with me and we hung up. 5 days later, I still don't have my phone call NOR a tech at my home. I downloaded a virus program, as thier guy deleted mine, and it found 1 virus and 312 worms (I don't know enough about computers to know how that is possible). I don't know if this program (one that I had before the deletion) missed the attackers, or if the virus/worms got in in the few days after deletion.

So, I have scrambled to protect my computer. The only thing (s) that I really want now, that I can see being reasonable... Is that Dell offer me a long term McAfee program that will protect me against anything, up to and including alien invasions, and some kind of an "apology" for deleting my childrens priceless Christmas pictures (they are 2 1/2 yrs old and 8 months old - first Christmas for my son).
