I have been involved in the nightmarish consequences of Dish Network's unethical business practices. If someone cannot afford to pay their bill on time, it is customary and logical that service will be temporarily suspended. However, what happens when you are dealing with this company is absolutely ABSURD and unexpected.
If they treat all their customers equally (and I assume they do), they will ship some cardboard boxes for you to use to return their equipment. They do not warn you, that on the day you recieve those boxes, your bank account has already been charged for that equipment, without your knowledge.in this case, it was $500!
Don't they realize that if you cannot even afford the monthly fee for their service in the first place, a charge like this could absolutely DEVASTATE a family? It's a domino effect if you have no knowledge of the charge. All the necessary bills you THOUGHT you paid that week are being returned NSF. Your bank account is NEGATIVE almost $800 due to all the NSF fees.
This is like your worst nightmare come true. Perhaps this is a tactic used to collect the amount past due, plus lots of additional fees for re-connecting and re-activating, etc... Which would surely result in a refund to your bank account? Given the options in the heat of the moment, I'm sure many people do that just to TRY to climb out of the hole they are suddenly buried in.
Don't fall for it... Fight it tooth and nail. These people need to be taken DOWN.
