My daughter's friend used her debit card (it can be used as a credit card) number to purchase Dish Network for $49.99 and now this friend has cancelled her Dish Network and not returned the equipment and now there are $613.33 of charges to her account that because she is poor and a college student, she has bank Overdraft charges and Negative balance fees at US Bank for over $550 dollars. My daughter and I have tried to contact Dish Network and the Bank to get this taken care of and her friend is not returning her call or mine either! How can Dish Network use someone else's credit card number without authorization. It is not even in her name. Who do I contact to report this? The Attorney General or the Police? I need help getting to the bottom of this. It is theft by credit card and fraud by both Dish Network and my daughter's FORMER friend. My daughter never gave permission or signed any contract for Dish Network to use her card after the initial purchase. I understand this is going on all the time with Dish Network. Maybe I should alert the Media and have them do a story on them. Supposedly if the equipment is returned they will credit her account and then the bank will reverse the enormous bank fees. I had to come up with over $1100 dollars to make it right and now I can't pay my bill. I know I should not bail my child out, but she is careful about her bank card and Dish Network is taking advantage of using her number instead of contacting the person who is on the account and did this in the first place.
