My wife and I are expecting a baby on Dec 11 (planned C-Section), therefore I ordered a video camera on Dell.com. I used my Dell Preferred Account in order to pay for the camera which was to be shipped out within 24 hours.
I received email confirmation that the order was received and that the camera was not the one I thought I ordered and my estimated date of delivery was 1/7/07! I was shocked and of course, this would just not do. I mean, I am human and I could have ordered the wrong one, but 1/7/07 is way too late.
I got back online and not seeing anyway to cancel the order, I ordered a second camera in order to ensure I would have it in time for the birth.
I then engaged in an online live chat with a "Jay Mahal" the following morning (customer service) who assured me he would cancel the first order and ship the second to my Mother in Law's house so I could be SURE to have it near the hospital (It's 2 hours from home).
I was pleased! I send an email praising Jay and Dell.
I then recieved the first camera in 3 days (why would it tell me 3-4 weeks out?)! I was told it might make it before it got canceled and I would need to return it. Well, days go by and still no second camera. This morning, I check Dell.com to find that the customer service rep CANCELED THE SECOND ORDER FOR THE CAMERA I NEEDED. I got online and chatted with another clerk (at 5 am) who informed me it was a mistake, but they could do nothing. I could order another camera of course she said.
Not only was I not going to try ordering a THIRD camera, but I didn't have enough on my Dell Prefered Account to order one even if I wanted to BECAUSE I NEVER RECIEVED A CREDIT FOR THE ACCIDENTALY CANCELED ORDER.
So now, I am 30 hours from a birth, with a camera I didn't want that I am supposed to return. Either I use it or lose the opportunity.
I am devastated that I now paid well over $300 for something I never wanted in the first place, I am owed over $350 for a canceled order, and I dealt with a load of stress.
I am paying off my Dell Prefered Account and never ordeing from them again.
