I purchased a Carlisle home in 2003. Two weeks after moving into the house I learned the slab was cracked. Carlisle homes was aware of this when they sold me the home. When I reported the problem with the flooring they sent a man out to replace the flooring. When he pulled up the flooring and began to chisle on the concrete I asked him what he was doing and he said he had to repair the crack in the slab before he could replace the flooring. The builder had already contracted him to repair the crack before he removed the flooring, thus proving the builder knew it was there when they sold me the house. He also showed me another crack that had already been repaired.
At that time I hired an engineer to come and inspect the house and assess the repair Carlisle Homes was proposing. He said it was a minor crack and the repair they were doing COULD possilbly take care of the problem. He warned my then to document everything done on this issue as it could turn into a large problem.
Moving ahead 3 years - All of a sudden I noticed major problems. They all started around the same time. Cracks in the sheetrock, bricks, tile flooring, doors not opening and closing properly. Just you typical foundation warning signals.
I immediately contacted Carlisle homes to come back out to inspect the home. I was told at that time that it was not their problem, even though I had a 10 year warranty. They told me to contact Aces Builders Warranty about any warranty repairs needed.
Aces Builders Warranty is no more than a third party company that only warranties that the BUILDER wil honor its warranty. Thus referring me back to
Carlisle Homes.
I have been in conflict with Carlisle Homes for over a year. Since Nov trying to get them to repair the foundation. The house has been inspected by 3 different engineering firms. One represented Carlisle and of course said there was no problem with the house. The other 2 were random firms of my choosing that both came back with the same report of foundation failure.
I had 3 foundation companies come and give estimates for repair. Carlisle had a foundation repair company give them an estimate. All were comprable in their assessment of what needed to be done and very close in pricing.
Carlisle signed a contract with a company to do the repairs. This contract was signed in October with the job to begin the first week of Nov. It is now almost the end of January and they have done nothing but stall and give excuses.
Please call their home office phone number 713-484-5900. You cannot get a live person. It is the voice mail system from hell. I have punched every button on there and no one will talk to you. The only time I get any response to email is when I insult them on such a personal level that they get angry enough to reply. But there is never an answer, just an email that basically says "Lady, sit down and shut up and we will get to you someday".
Only someday never comes.
I agree with other complaints on this site about this builder. Mike Lafoy has given me in writing that Carlisle homes will take care of this problem and be responsible for all cost. I have a copy of the contract he signed with the foundation repair company. Has any of this got the job done. NO.
I know I am ranting here but isn't that what this site is for. This is a major problem and there is absolutely no trust left in this buisness relationship. I have given them every opportunity to "do the right thing" which ironically is their business philosophy according to their advertisement.
At this point I want this builder to "do the right thing" which I see as buying this house back at a fair market value. I do not trust letting them repair the house as I would probably end up with a lien against my home for non payment by Carlisle.
Any suggestions?
