Our new home has developed cracks at least a 1/4 inch wide that go through the slab and down to the bottom of the foundation. The excuses we have been given over the last 3 years are shinkage cracks, settlement cracks the house foot print is to big, expansion and contraction, etc. They are willing to patch the cracks but NOT CORRECT THE CAUSE which means the cracks will continue to appear.
I suggest that no new home owner sign or accept the builders warranty until a lawyer reads you your rights under the warranty.
By signing the warranty offered to me, i gave all my rights to sue or hold the builder accountable for any problems or defects he caused. It should be called the BUILDERS RELEASE not a home warranty.
