Review: Service & Food: Every time we go to Maggie Valley my husband stops for a banana split at Ammon's, but if you want hot food you are out of luck. On Sunday March 11 I order a hamburger with lettuce, pickles, fries and my husband ordered his banana split. My son and I started to talk and there was the food. The fastest service I have ever had. The banana split looked beautiful, but when I opened my burger it was ice cold. My husband and son touched the bun and said well it was probably hot on the inside. I opened it and you couldn't hardly find the burger, but it was like it had been taken out of cold water the bun under it was very wet, it was smoothered in shredded lettuce and thousand island dressing with pickles on top. It took three big bites to get to the meat and it was so cold it hurt my teeth. I called the waitress over and told her that the burger was very cold and not good. She said she cold heat it up. I asked with all the lettuce and thousand island on it, wouldn't it make it slimy? She said well and walked off. Never to return to our table again for refills or anything. She laid the ticket down when she said well. When leaving the waitress stood behind the cashier who asked how I enjoyed my meal. I began to explain and the cashier did not even look up she just smiled and shook her head yes. When she handed me my change I reached over and handed the waitress a penny and told her if she heated it up it may look better. I turned and was half way to the door when I felt something hit me in the back and clip the lower left ear lope. It hurt, but I had no idea, she had thrown the penny from across the room and as I heard it land two tables over I walked over and picked it up. I walked back to the register and I asked her what would she have done it I had thrown the burger at her as she walked away? She started cussing and screaming at me telline me never to come back into the resturant, you, your family, your friends get the %out. I ask for the manager and my husband ask him did he allow his waitresses to treat people like that. He said no, but she did offer to heat up your burger and if you had come back here to the kitchen I would have given you a fresh one. I said sir I didn't know because I wasn't given that option. Another woman walked over and told me to "go on." "There is alot of church people in here and they don't need to see this." I said ma'am your right I am a church person or I would have cussed and hollered at her like she did me. I just want an apology, she should'nt have done that to me. The manager walked over to the register and pulled out $2.00 and shoved it in my husbands chest as he walked by him. My husband and I were both dumb founded. I turned and looked and the place was 3/4 full and they had seen the waitress throw the money, hit me with it and cuss me, but somehow it was my fault. The manager never said anything to the waitress, who I found out later was his daughter. The cashier was his granddaughter. It is a family affair and if you complain your not FAMILY. Always keep that in mind when in Ammon's. So, if you go to Ammon's in Maggie Valley North Carolina just order Ice Cream and don't turn your back on them. Don't order anything hot they must keep it with the ice cream. It was a very sad experience to say the least. Thank you for reading this.
