I too, am a victim of Providian selling my account to Emerge. They did this without my permission. They also closed my account prior to selling it to Emerge, even though I was only late once. They claimed they ran my credit report and found my credit to be bad, which was not true. It was worse before I got a card with them!
The interest rate and finance charge are outragous! Almost the entire payment goes to those charges and little to the pricipal owed on the account. These people will be eventually sending this bill to the cemetary because I will still be paying on it after I die in 50 years.
How can they do this? What are my chances of taking any legal action against them? I would be willing to join in a suit with others to try to get back some of this money they have been stealing from me.
