This is the first I had seen about the increase in interest rates. What Providian had done to my account is to reduce my credit limit just prior to transferring the account to Emerge. As it was the Christmas season I was at my limit on the card. When they reduced the limit, with no prior notification, and transferred my account to Emerge this put me in an over limit status. Coupled with the higher interest rate I have been struggling to get out of the hole with them ever since. Calls to Providian just go to computer operators which then route you to Emerge after going through 6 or 7 options. Emerge says they can do nothing about the situation.
