My family moved from Michigan in 1959. We opened an account at Bank of America then. I would depotit CASH, and WAIT to mail out checks to various companys 2-3 days later.
They would bounce my checks. They had me up to $240 dollars in overdraft charges.
When I found this out, I went immediately to the branch, at about 5pm on Friday evening. Asked what was going on. They tried to put me off. The bank was full of customers either depositing money, pay checks or cashing checks. I asked to see the manager at that time. Said wasn't available. I RAISED my voice about 8 octaves (as my voice is normally low). THAT brought attention immediately.
I closed that account. Got all my money withdrawn, PLUS all my overdraft charges. Didn't bank with Bank of America until the middle 1970's. Only did that because my husbank worked out of state and had his checks auto deposit. It was with Bank of America branch in Garden Grove, CA. No trouble with them.
Have had other accounts with Bank of America in other Cities and States. NO PROBLEMS.
Seems like Buena Park, CA branch is still doing the same thing as in the early 1960's. They should be investigated throughly, as they are still practicing the same policies for over 40 years.
