I was not able to use my debit card on July 1st when I was told it was deactivated due to unusual activity. I was told to stop by a branch to get a new card with new numbers. I stopped by a branch yesterday and was given a temporary card with the same exact numbers as my prior debit card.
I called the 800 number this evening to inquire about the card numbers, and the first rep I spoke with today put me on hold because she was going to verify the card number. She came back to the phone to tell me she had confirmed it's a different set of numbers. Upon review of this information, because I had it written down at home, I realized it is the same set of numbers. I don't appreciate being lied to. That is extremely unprofessional and shows me they could not care less about the matter at hand. Is that how they train your representatives to handle phone calls and questions they do not know how to answer?
What is the purpose of putting me through humiliation at the grocery store with a non-working card, telling me they deactivated it for my safety, but then activating it again when giving me a temporary card and ordering me a new card with the same exact numbers? How are they helping me protect my information from being compromised again or used in an unauthorized manner, since it was already compromised, if they still have the same card information active? Now, due to the holiday, I have to wait until Friday to go to a branch on my lunch break and do this all over again, as if I don't have a job or anything better to do. I am not happy with Citibank's service at this time.
