I had an account with TCF. One of my dogs almost died and between my husband and I we maxed out our cards in cluding my debit. I knew i was going to overdraft, but that would be something I would take care of as soon as I knew my girl was stable. (It happened over the weekend)
I went in to the branch on Monday and spoke with one of the branch managers and explained to her what had happened. I told her that I knew it was my fault and brought the money to cover the overdrafts. I also had them check to make sure nothing else was going to post, if it looked like something might put me back in the red, I wanted to take care of it right then and there so it didnt.
Its been awhile now, but I think they said it shoulf be 1 or 2, regardless, I put in the money to cover it. They said I should be fine after that. I dont want to get her in trouble with her company for trying to help me, but she told me to let the items clear and then to come back and see her and because of the unusual circumstances she would see about reversing the fees.
I was told unfortunally I had to go thru the proper channels and call in first. I was told most likely nothing would be done. Something about the calls going overseas and those people not wanting to help us. So I did what she said and waited the two days for the items to clear before I called.
When I did call, I was being told that 7 more items posted overdrafts and I told them it was not possible, I had already talked to someone about it. He claimed that they can see things that they can not. I said, "So what, she lied to me." He had no answer to that. I told him I thought he was lying and he kept insisting I was wrong,
I reported them immediately more than once, but never heard anything back. I contacted credit reporting agencies because I didn not want this to count against me. I don't know as of yet if that did any good or not.
In the mean time. I had another account with TCF that has been closed for about a year or so because I was the victim of fraud. After closing that account somehow $1.00 posted to that account.
I called as soon as I saw that and asked how that was possible because the account was closed. They told me that while and account was in the process of being closed, money can be forced in, but can not be taken out, so that account remained closed this entire time with that dollar in it.
It has shown it closed for more than a year now. Now because of me disputing them, they took that $1.00 from that closed account and are now charging me a $9.95 a month maintence fee.
What is wrong with these people and how can they get away with this? Now I get a letter stating that I owe them $280.00 and its in the process of collections. This is ridiculous.
I was already contacted by a Credit Agency & I told them I wasnt paying and why. The lady I spoke to agreed with me. I wish I would have kept the letter now.
These people are going to make my credit go down, they dont care, they want your money and will do what ever they can to get it. They are completely unethical and if they are pulling things like this on me, I'm sure there doing it to many others.
Unfortunately most will just give them what they want so they dont have to deal with the hassel. Please help!!!
