Bank of America still has not closed my bank account, even though I already closed it with them. I closed (supposedly) my Bank of America account November 20th. They told me to call back in five business days to make sure that the account had closed alright and that no atm charges that pop up at the end of the month had a appeared and reopened the account.
This is what is strangely unethical: after you close your account with them if someone debits your account it automatically reopens. If you do owe money to someone because of uncleared checks or end of the month atm fees they should send you a bill for that exact amount and not re-open your account.
IN my case I called back in 5 days and they told me because of the monthly service charge of the bank account, my account was re-opened and then charged some sort of overdraft fee for because there was no money in the account. Why didn't they make me pay the monthly fee for the month I closed it when I closed the account? I didn't even know I had to pay that month. Why charge me an overdraft fee for the monthly service charge after I already closed my account? THis is absurd! THis was supposedly resolved over 2 hours of waiting and dealing with customer service... Or I thought it was until I received another statement the next month.
The next month - december - I found out that "Vista Print" gave my card information to MVQ*VPCLUBUS and they were charging my old card # 14.95 a month for I don't even know what and that even though I already closed my Bank of America account they let the charge go through. THis is after I spoke with Bank of America for the second time telling them I wanted my account completely closed. And the bogus charges that bank of America said they had removed were still on my statement along with more overdraft fees. I just got off the phone with Bank of America for the fourth time, telling them that I got MVQ to reverse their bogus charges and with a confirmation number. But Bank of America still refuses to close my account or refund any bogus overdraft charges.
Would someone please help me? Is their a lawsuit against Bank of America right now for this crap they are trying to pull that I should become apart of or should I continue to contact a lawyer. I'm guessing as a rough estimate that they have probably done this to tens of thousands of people and gotten away with stealing millions of dollars from people that were sick of waiting on the phone for customer service only realizing bank of america will not close their account.
