I am on disability and notified my bank I was being ripped off by National Magazine Exchange. At first they tried to help me, but then they made things worse. I contacted all the magazines and was going to get credited for what had been taken out of my account, however, the bank continued taking out deductions for the magazines.
Then I recieved a letter on November that included a check for $44.72. I was advised that since I know longer have an account with our bank we are mailing you a Cashier's Check for a credit recieved.
As far as I was concerned I was going to be getting quite a few cashier's checks, because I had talked with every magazine.
Then suddenly I start getting overdraft fee's for the same magazines on the same account! I couldn't understand how this could be, because I have a letter on bank letterhead stating my account is closed.
I went to the bank and spoke with Brenda Risener on January 5 about this. She said I owe the money even though I have a letter stating my account was closed, dated November 7.
I told her that was wrong and I wanted the total amounts of the credits that were put in the account, and I felt that any balance should be written off since I recieved the letter about my account being closed. She tried to say I wrote a check on November 3 after the account was closed. I did write the check—but I didn't know at that time they had closed my account.
