Rips Off Senior Citizens Sold discontinued phone to grandmother and did not provide assistance when phone died

In Oct grandmother purchased phone and very basic contract with TMobile. Not being high-tech she wanted a simple to use phone. She purchased a new phone and the very minimal basic plan.

Feb/March the phone quit working and would not charge. My mother took my grandmother back to the store where she was told the phone was an antique and good luck finding a battery. They referred her to Best Buy and Radio Shack for a battery. Best Buy and Radio Shack told them they no longer made the batteries. Because of the way they were treated neither of them felt going back to the store would do any good.

When Tmobile would call my grandmother about her delinquent bill she said you sold me a phone that doesn't work and I'm not paying for time I can't use. They have added a $200.00 early termination fee and have sent her to a collection agency. She would honor her contract and be a happy customer. Tmobile refuses to rectify this situation.

I was advised of this in November and started calling their wrongfully labeled "Customer Service". All she is asking is they waive the fees assessed during the time her phone did not work and the early termination fee and give her a working phone. They have spent more money talking to me on the phone about this than just fixing the problem.

The salesman Ian Shannon, nor anyone else working at this location told them about calling 611 or customer care. My grandmother has the onset of Alzheimers and doesn't know, my mother is not high tech and was clueless. They were not told to call the manufacturer about the warranty. Which I feel they should not have to do. They should not have sold her a discontinued phone.
