Not 'SIRIUS' about Customer Service, Nasty Manager, RIPOFF

In December I received a Kenwood, SIRIUS compatible stereo for Christmas. I bought the Sirius Tuner for the Kenwood, and had Sirius installed.

All has been well since Jan and I loved all of the stations, etc.

A week ago, when I tried to listen to Sirius, all I received was static on every channel.

I called a Sirius Customer Service rep, last week, and he told me it was a tuner problem and to take it back to the person who installed it, to check it out.

I did just that today—Saturday—and I was told it was a faulty SIRIUS tuner box. The tech told me that this type of tuner box was not made anymore, so he felt certain Sirius would just send me a new one, even though it was after the one-year warranty.

So, of course I called Sirius and spoke to a really nice Customer Service rep, who told me that they couldn't send me a new one for free, but he would try to find one that was cheap. I don't think $100.00 is cheap. I also do not think I should have to pay for their faulty equipment.

I asked to speak to a supervisor, and the Customer Rep was very polite and connected me with the Wicked Witch of SIRIUS.

She was the shift supervisor. I always make sure to be as calm and polite as possible, because I know that these folks get their call scripts from someone above them, but from the get go, this woman was rude, condescending, and was not going to help me at all.

All I need is the tuner box. That's it. The tuner box container (which I wisely kept), and the tuner box itself has the words SIRIUS Satellite Radio—SIRIUSCONNECT Kenwood Compatible Sirius Satellite Radio Tuner.

So, "Megan" kept talking over me, and loudly telling me this was not Sirius' problem, and I need to contact Kenwood, because the tuner box is not from Sirius, it's from Kenwood.

Really? Then why does it have the word SIRIUS all over it, with the SIRIUS logo and copyright logo on the back? She kept insisting, with her oh-so-kind tone of voice, that I must have eaten paste as a child, because I couldn't comprehend that Sirius was not going to do a damn thing for me.

She began to talk over me, etc. Her remedy for the issue—she said, " this is all we can do for you..."—was for me to buy a Sirius radio.

???

Why in the hell would I want to buy a Sirius radio, when I have a perfectly good stereo with Sirius compatibility?

Interesting.

So, as she was angrily telling me her name—"I've told you for the 7th time"—I said, "You know what? Just refund me for the two years that I re-upped for. You've just lost a customer for good."

She sure didn't care, and kept on blathering, talking over me. I simply said, "Did you refund my money yet?" She said, "Yes, for $250 dollars." I said, "Gee, thanks!" and hung up.

Unbelievable. And before some snarky Sirius employee comes on to tell me this is my problem, think long and hard about the crap equipment that you sell.

Needless to say, I will certainly live without Sirius radio.
