A call center employee gave my information to someone who called and got a phone using my ID. They changed my shipping address and had the phone sent to their house. I'm a female but the person pretending to be me was a male.
They did a warranty exchange and were somehow able to get a phone worth over $500 phone for free while mine is not worth half that. Cingular claimed they did not know where the phone was being sent initially.
I filled a report with the police (who I had to convince to investigate) and when they got to the house they found out I was one of many victims. The others were not yet aware that their identity had been stolen until they were notified. (It's still being investigated.)
