Ripoff fraudulent billing practices

After several years as a cingular customer, I started receiving higher bills than usual. I do know that my cell phone usage has increased, and therefore paid the first bill that was higher than normal. After this, my wife and I started paying attention to our phone usage to ensure we did not go over our monthly minutes. The next bill was again higher. My usual bill was around $100.00 per month. The first increased bill was for over $300.00 as was the next. I called customer service and have recieved various explanations, each one different than the previous, but the end result is the same, I owe the money.

Since the second bill, I have received yet another bill, this one for $267.00. This bill also has the same problem as the others. I called once again to customer service, and was issued a case number which I was told would be completed by April 14. I called today (April 13) and was told the credit was denied, and that the credit department had tried to contact me. I believe this to be an outright lie, as they have my cell phone number, and I use this as my home phone as well. Regardless, my problem follows and includes the excuses I have been given:

I have several calls on my bill for call waiting (CW) minutes that are very excessive. The time amounts listed for the CW minutes range from 15 to 119 minutes.in addition to this, some of the call times overlap other calls. For example, I have a call at 7:00 pm, the call lasted for 7 minutes. I have a CW call from the same number that I was talking to at 7:01, and yet another CW call at 7:06. This is only one example of many. After three attempts of talking with Customer Service, I have not recieved any reasonable excuse, reply, or correction of this matter.

Some of the excuses that I have been told:

1. The CW calls are listed as CW because you changed from one call to another, yet they are still valid calls. (This would be great if I had three lines available, I only have 1 call waiting line).

2. If the intial person you were talking to fails to hang up, billing continues for that call. (I made sure that all calls were ended before taking new calls, and yet received new bills for CW calls).

3. This is the most outlandish of all. Today I was told that even if I did not answer the call waiting calls, and the calling person remained on the line, I am billed for the minutes of that call. I interpret this to be: you can, and will be billed for calls that you did not make.

I saw an earlier post where Sarah, from Maulden Massachusetts said she could help. I am hoping that she, or anyone, can resolve this issue. I can not, and will not pay, three months worth of phone bills each month.
