Long Distance Excessive add ons to bill and billing for calls never completed

Many years ago I signed up my elderly mother for long distance through Primus which advertised rates of a few cents a minute. I just looked at one of her bills and the charges and taxes are nearly 25% of the amount of calls she made.in addition, the per minute charges have increased at a time when calling is becoming cheaper so that she is now paying double per minute what you can get from other companies.in addition, her bill has charges for many calls that were never completed but Primus starts to obviously charge when the phone starts ringing. Oh, Primus says they will give you credit for those calls if you call them within two months of the call. Of course, we are talking about a few cents per call so who is going to look at the bill, figure out those calls and then sit on hold while waiting for their customer service representative to answer. I bet most customers never look for these refunds so that the money goes right into Primus' pocket.

Bottom line, there are many, many better deals out there than Primus.
