Salesperson was Howard L. On Long Island. My home was damaged by hurricane irene and I needed the carpet replaced quickly. Howard came to the house but would not put the quote in writing unless paid at that time and he made it clear he would not return. I usually don't do business with pressure sales people but I had to get the work done. After hearing from Howard that he is a millionaire and only does sales to keep busy, the deal was done. The next day when the carpet arrived it was not the carpet we agreed upon. Called empire and they had Howard return. He explained that he equated quality with price and he was unaware of the inferior quality of the carpet until it was shown to him. Howard insisted he needed more money for what was essentially the carpet we originally agreed upon. I told him I was cancelling the order. He left in a huff, only to return a couple of minutes later to work out a deal. Later, Howard had the nerve to call me and ask if I could take the rest of the carpet off the stairs so he would make a couple of more bucks. Now the installers spoke very little english but they did do a nice job once they found the right house and the customer service was good. But the fact that the salesperson tried to take advantage of the situation does not sit well with me. Because of the actions of Howard L. I would have to rate my experience as very poor.
