Consumer Report

Samsung sent me to ask Yahoo Mobile for connection information for mobile services, using 888-582-5145, a number they probably googled. It directed me to a front man who posed as Yahoo, asked if my computer was handy, asked me to sign on to email, and indicated my computer network was hacked. Using Rescue123, he gave me a code with which he said he would be able to show me recent hacker activity. It was a remote access program that allowed him to use my mouse, pull up the name of my computer and show a dos screen of activity back to 2009. He recommended getting all teh computers serviced by Office Depot, or by PC Care Experts.By connecting me to a service rep for PC Care, I was shown their good standing on the Microsoft website, and given a rundown of their services, heading to the credit card part of the pitch. Meanwhile, I am googling pccareexperts scam on my phone, and discovered lots of people with an exact story, right down to the Yahoo phone number that started it all. I started reading it out loud to the rep, an Indian guy named Amit, as I force quit my computer. He hung up on me. I got away, but reported this to Yahoo. Others need to know.
