I called Yahoo Customer Care and told them that my alias to my email address was not working. The first level support did a remote diagnosis that they told me that my local Internet connection had been sabotaged and that I was hacked and it was not Yahoo's fault. I asked what I needed to do!
I then was escalated to the manager of the group! Who gave me two options. Office Depot that would take 5 days and cost or PC Care Experts that could do it immediately and then monitor the service for 1 year for a cost of $150.
I said that I would consider the PC Care Experts and then they transferred me to them and immediately I was speaking to PC Care Experts and they had all my information. So they started pressing me to sign up immediately for one year and also still had remote access to my PC. I was told if I wanted time to consider what to do that it would cost me an additional $65 for them to do analysis again. I was told not to use any other computer on my Internet access because they could be hacked.
When I went to do a search on them on the Internet while on the call with them they brought up an ad with older people at their computers.
Luckily I felt that their pressure was not ethical and did not sign up~ since my husband is a network and IT expert.
When I asked him what was his accent/country. He told me he was Indian. His English was perfect! Sounded like an Irish accent.
My question is was I really talking to Yahoo Customer Support in the first place???
