I have an extended warranty with Hewlett-Packard.
The story is long, as it took 3 hours to finally get someone to accept that the computer needs to go in for repair. Rather than bore you with the details, suffice to say that HP tech support is either seriously incompetent or instructed to use diversionary tactics to discourage customers from returning computers which are still under warranty. These tactics include lying, as was verified by one of their own employees.
Making a report of the customer service problem was almost equally diversionary.
