March 8 Direct TV did an authorized EFT from by bank in the amount of $489.65. My wife happened to call the bank that day wanting to know what checks had come in. When the bank told her that Direct TV had transfered money, she told the bank that we pay by check each month and that our monthy bill was about $94.00 a month. The bank put a stop payment on the transaction and the money was put back into our account the next day.
My wife contacted Direct TV. They wanted copies of the bank statement which she retrieved from the bank and sent to them. They finally called her and said they did not know which account the EFT had been for.
Last week, June 28, it happened again. $367.67 was electronically transferred to Direct TV. Again, luckily, my wife had checked with the bank and stopped the transaction. The money was returned to my bank account the next day.
I called customer support today, July 3, and spoke with Ann. I asked for her last name however it must be against their policy for their people to give out that information.
I told her about the two Electronic File Transfers. She told me the bank would need to investigate it and that Direct TV had no way to know which account the bank withdrawals were for. My bank told me to turn it over to the authorities and make a report with BBB.
It seems to me that knowing the amount of the withdrawal, the bank it came from and the date of the transaction. That they should be able to determine which account they were going to apply it to. If they can't do that, how can they stay in business.
My concern now is the length of time we have been with Direct TV, since I think. How many transactions over those years have occured that we don't know about?
