Refused to replace defective awning spring

I replaced two awning tension springs on the Spirit FX RV awning and now have another bad spring. Carefree has started to crimp the springs to the end cap to solve the prior problem but is not willing to replace older springs citing warrenty issues. This should have been a recall directive. My Certified letter to Mr Rutherford, Pres, Carefree, 5/19/08 went unanswered.
