I recently received a written quote from Empire for installation of nearly 1000 sq ft of hardwood flooring. I then called National Floors Direct to get their advertised "we can beat any quote by 15%" deal. When the sales person came the first question he asked was did I have another quote. If so, he wanted to see it so he could just beat the price without doing a single measurement. I refused to give him the quote and made him measure. After he was done, his first quote was significantly higher than Empire. So I showed him the Empire quote. To make a long story short, between he and his manager they would not beat the quote unless I did some of the work. Of course I refused to do that so the sales guy insisted I was getting an inferior product and service. I finally told him to either beat the price of leave. The sales person practically ran out of my house. He refused to even leave his business card. These NFD guys are a joke.
