National Dealers Warranties - Canadian Auto Warranty Services - Worldwide Warranties Scare Tactics for the Elderly lead to authorization of Policy - Getting out of it is like pulling Teeth - or can you? St. Peters

My mother was called by this company, in Canada. It was going under the name Canadian Auto Warranty Services. Scared her into authorizing the contract in September. Payments through her visa have amounted to $1000 so far and will continue at $178. A month, for the next 10 months unless she can get out of it. I called the number and they couldn't find the policy. They had me on hold after every question I had, was asked. Seems any work done on a vehicle is paid through a corporate mastercard from Huntsville Alabama. That claims office is only open between 7am and 5pm M-F Central Time. So I called again on Monday. Again they couldn't find the policy, I was put on hold, they came back with a client number. I told them that I still had no contract/policy and they said that it might have gone to a different address, they read the address to me and it was correct. I asked them to send my daughter via UPS a copy of the policy. I told them that I was staying at my daughters for the week. They said they would. (I am the daughter alias mother in my calls as my mother is 82 and scared to death that her car would get into an accident and she would be sued millions of dollars if she didn't have this, per the person that called her.

Finally, I called back and asked for customer service. After being on hold for about 5 minutes someone came on. (perviously they said that they couldn't transfer me to customer service. They would have to write the message down and walk over to the customer service department, this time they said they transferred me.) This woman was very well taught on how to prevent someone to get out of a policy in that I had to ask her ten times what the protocol was to cancel the policy..."oh you shouldn't", "you can transfer it"... Blah, blah, blah. I am to send a letter, with the reason, mileage, policy number (if the one they provided is right) to 339 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, MO 63376. I have another number which is 636-279-1374, which I haven't tried. I am going to send this letter and see where it gets me.

I will also wait and see if I will receive the contract. If there is not contract, how can they keep taking money out of the visa.

Bottom line is they prey on Canadians as well as Americans. They have to be put out of business but they sure are slick and have probably got every angle to say that they are legit. Also, I was told by the bank that if you can prove that they aren't living up to paying the claims then that is fraud. You then can report them to the police.
