My refrigerator stopped working after just 2 1/2 years. I contacted Sears repair and they could send a repair person out 4 days later, and I'd have to take off work to accommodate it. Their cost was $280, or $85 for the home visit to be applied to the cost of the repair.
I called a local repair person and he came out in three hours so I lost very little food. He was $35 for the visit. He said the compressor starter needed to be repaired and he fixed it for $240.
A refrigerator should last longer than 2 1/2 years, even though it was an inexpensive model. I had to pay almost 50% of the cost of the fridge to repair it. That is not a good appliance. I will not be purchasing Kenmore anymore, nor Whirlpool, who I'm told is the manufacturer of the appliance.
