EMachines
Very poor quality and craftsmanship, ripoff

Complaint Classification: Product Quality

Complaint Description: Posted 7-14
I purchased a new emachines desktop PC in 2/04. The EMachine comes w / a 1yr warranty. After 1yr and 5 months, my computer is completely inoperable. After speaking to technical support, they advised I can either purchase a new computer or replace virtually everything inside of my current one - as it sounds like I recieved a defective product.

After telling me the PC is defective, they refused to resolve my situation or offer any help whatsoever. My complaint with this company is that I purchased a brand new computer from them last year, and now i'm in the position where I have to purchase yet another new computer, to replace the new one I just bought due to extremely poor craftsmanship and quality.

Complaint Summary:
Computer is inoperable after 1.5yrs of new purchase. Company will do nothing to resolve issue. Support Center advised me to purchase a new computer.
Resolution Sought

I would like EMachines to take this desktop computer back and refund my money, or replace this computer with one which operates properly and is not 'defective'.

As the customer has already noted the unit comes with a ONE-year warranty from eMachines. At this time as his warranty has expired any repairs needed will have to be done at his cost. EMachines will not be issuing a refund or a replacement on the unit as the warranty has expired.

Initial Response Summary:
eMachines has honored the ONE year warranty, responsibility for any repairs at this time will fall to the customer as the warranty has expired.

My complaint is not on the stated one year product warranty. My complaint is on selling a defective product and not standing behind what you sell. If not a refund could I at least get an apology? I've already purchased a new computer through Dell, which is what I should have done in the first place. I suppose you get what you pay for, and in this case, eMachines, it was junk.
