My daughter had braces put on three years ago. The initial consult included an insurance review to determine what costs we would have left to pay. Cover. Based on this estimate the work began. This office was supposed to bill the insurance every month for adjustments.
They did not bill regularly and when they did the codes used were for adult orthodontia. The insurance plan does not cover adults for this work. Consequentially the dental office was not getting paid. It took months to track down the problem. When I asked the billing office why they were coding adult for a thirteen year old, they said it was because they were adult teeth.
Because they were not billing monthly and miscoding the bills they did submit, the insurance did not pay most of the costs that were estimated originally.
I have been paying monthly since then for work that was covered by insurance. The billing office is difficult to get information from and they have been very nasty when my daughter has gone in for treatment.
Now that they are paid all I want is for them to take off the braces so I do not have to deal with them any more.
