Sept bought LG Bluetooth headset from newegg.com based on $10 LG rebate promotion. Mailed the rebate materials within days, definitely within the 60-day time limit specified on the rebate form. Waited a reasonable period of time before contacting the rebate processor, Advertising Checking Bureau in Feb.
ACB rep said they had no record of my rebate claim, that it was most likely lost in the mail, and that the rebate program was closed and I was calling too late. I asked for a supervisor and she told me she would need LG's permission to process any more rebates. She promised to call me back, but never did.
I contacted LG directly by phone and email and requested that they intercede with ACB. LG rep asked that I fax the rebate claim directly to ACB. LG said I would receive rebate check in mid-March.
Mid-March I received no check, but a letter from ACB denying my claim for being postmarked too late. I asked LG how it could be postmarked too late if it was faxed as LG requested. LG replied that ACB has actually found my original rebate claim. I explained to LG that original rebate materials were definitely postmarked on time. LG replied that they had no control over their rebate processor. I told them that was unacceptable. LG said the headset was actually from a different manufacturer who makes products for different brands, so LG has no control over them either.
Scammed once by ACB, and twice by LG. I see this same story repeated several times on the site here. I guess I should have researched more before relying on these cheats.
