I bought a Netgear Mp101 Digital Music Player from the Best Buy in Thousand Oaks, California on 10/26/05. I completed the $50.00 rebate form and mailed it along with the original UPC and sales receipt to the Netgear rebate address on 10/29/05. The rebate form plainly states in capital letters that "YOU SHOULD RECEIVE YOUR REBATE WITHIN 8 WEEKS".
In January I logged on to the rebate website and my rebate could not be found, so I called 1-888-BESTBUY and after waiting on hold for quite some time was informed that my rebate had been received and was being processed. I was then informed that it normally takes up to 16 WEEKS to get a rebate fulfilled!
I have called several times since, and still have not gotten my rebate. By the way, when you call the rebate phone number you get to talk to someone in KINGSTON, JAMAICA. Another AMERICAN company sending jobs off shore.
Best Buy's claim of 8 weeks is absolutely fraudulent. Unfortunately, most people never bother to claim their rebates, so we'll probably never know the extent of this fraud.
