On 8-13-25, I contacted Painted Dreams Ranch in Caro, MI, to inquire about German Shorthair Pointer puppies, specifically looking for a female. I was informed they were hoping to expect one litter in early October and possibly a second. I was told to send $200 via CashApp or Venmo to secure my spot on the waitlist. On 8-26, I sent a $200 deposit via CashApp, expecting to receive a contract to sign and return in the mail.
I received a purchase agreement signed by the seller, but there was no signature line for me. I never signed the purchase agreement. Knowing the puppies were due in early October and not having heard anything from the seller by 10-15-2025, I reached out to ask if I had made the list. I had seen on their Facebook site that the puppies had already been born, and I had no idea where I stood on this so-called list.
It was never disclosed how many people were on the list, whether for a male or female puppy. There was no disclosure of who was in what position for litter pick or how many people were ahead of me on the list. I was left in the dark, as the seller holds my deposit. Once I inquired, she said I did not make this litter. I asked if I would make the next litter and when it would be available. Everything was generalized as "possibly" winter or spring, but they had not started breeding for them. I was told four people were ahead of me. The possibility of making those litters for a female would be slim since the last litter was only six pups with only two females. I told the seller I wasn't expecting to wait up to a year, and she had no disclosure of list positions, so I had to move to another litter. On 11-29, she contacted me to inform me that she had one female that became available last minute, and we had an exchange regarding her poor business practices. She posted the female on Facebook on 11-29. I am questioning if there were actually four people ahead of me on some list that no one ever saw. She gaslit and blamed me for not asking more questions.
I contacted the seller, and the exchange is included in my complaint. I made a Better Business Bureau complaint, and Painted Dreams Ranch, LLC never responded. They are now rated at a D+ rating with the BBB. Further research proved they are NOT in good AR Standing with the State of Michigan Corporations Division as of December 2025. I also did a search and review of the business with the BBB and the Tuscola County MI Chamber of Commerce and discovered they have done similar shady actions to others and then blocked them from contacting the business.
Further complaint actions were taken, and a consumer complaint with the State of Michigan Attorney General's Office was made. I am awaiting to see if the business is responsible enough to answer that complaint. Painted Dreams Ranch, LLC gets a few satisfied customers and friends to write positive reviews to try and counter their bad reviews. However, it only takes being taken advantage of one time to show what the business is really all about. In this case, there are several people who have been taken advantage of by this business. Do your research and check online reviews; you could be on the losing end of their next shady business practices. They also deal in the horse breeding business. Do not trust this company!
