Mike Walker of VDO specialties (aka GetItRepaired.com aka gwnonline.net) accepted my Xbox for a modification. He never performed service on it, only sipped it back months later after a certified letter and a BBB complaint, and has refused to refund any repair fees. He has been only argumentative on the phone and his reasoning behind his refusals defy all logic, and, more to the point, his own contract words!
Do not deal with him!
Google for other feedback on this guy and his companies. Other postings mention alleged multiple bankruptcies, and being banned from eBay. My own BAD experience in dealing with him makes me tend to believe those without a doubt!
My Chippewa Falls Better Business Bureau complaint:
"My letter to Mr. Walker below. My device was determined unrepairable my Mr. Walker in December. He stated it was being returned to me. This outcome, minus his diagnostic fee and return shipping fee was acceptable to me. I did not hear from him until his receipt of my letter today.
Mr. Walker is claiming he had not heard from me, that he was not under obligation to return my device or fees as it had "been past 30 days", and that any refund would be subject to a 50% cancellation fee.
Mr. Walker has been argumentative in our telephone calls since the beginning. He has not adhered to the contract I signed when submitting the device in for service (available here: https://www.gwnonline.net/repairform.htm).
His claim I am "cancelling" is not correct. He is unable to perform the service I contracted for (as the scope of the repair is not covered in the agreement I submitted).
The agreement states...
.. If Get it Repaired decide the system is not economically feasible to have repaired We/I will be held responsible to pay the required shipping fee of $20.00 per unit ($25 for X box 360 and a diagnostic charge of $35.00 per unit to have the system returned to me...

It has been some time since we have spoken about my X-Box repair. I sent you my Xbox (serial number 2093806 14203) on or about October 11. I included payment of $84.99 ($69.99 modification install and $15.00 return shipping) via my US Bank check #1095 which you cashed on or around October 18th. My situation was slightly outside your regular service. I was shipping a machine with a non-functioning modification and I did not include the hard drive or CD-ROM drive.
We spoke a few times on the phone when I called for status on the work. You told me repeatedly the repair was in queue. After several weeks we spoke again and you told me that as there was already a modification to the unit that you would want a repair fee in addition to the modification fee. I immediately sent check #1139 in the amount of $69.99 which cleared November 7th.
I followed up with you again in December. You told me that due to some visible heat damage at the rear of the main board you would not be able to repair the Xbox and would be sending it back. Late December I called for a status of the return. You promised a call back, and I did not receive one.
I would like a return of my Xbox, plus a return of all my repair and modification fees. As per the form I signed and submitted with the repair order, the return shipping fee plus a $35.00 diagnostic charge are non-refundable.
