We moved into our house in July. Wanting Charter's services for cable, high-speed internet, and possibly phone service, we called them for a quote and preliminary installation dates.
The technician arrived stating it was not possible to do the installation without a lineman and a cherry picker. I called Charter, setting up a new date for installation with the new information I received.
The second tech came out by himself, stating it was not possible to complete the installation without additional help. I called Charter back. They appologized, and we setup a third appointment.
The tech came out, stating the same as the other two techs. I called Charter's corporate office. They told me they needed to send a surveyer out to our property. They assured me I did not need to be home, that they would leave a door tag. No door tag or phone call. I did not know if they had been here.
I had to call the corporate office back, only for them to tell me four months later after the initial sales call, that cable was not available in our area.
I know the people who owned our house before we did. I spoke with them. They informed me of their 3 year cable/internet service with charter which was disconnected before they closed on the house.
I contacted the corporate office again, this time armed with the new information I had received. The supervisor was unable to help, stating they did not have a solution.
If our property was incapable of receiving cable, (which it's not) why does it take four months, three days of missed work, and hours on hold with the company for a resolution?
I guess service such as this highly contributes to their stock, which has plummeted $22 since '01 to $1.26/share. Nice work Charter.
