My ASUS netbook computer screen failed when it was less than 90 days old. The netbook was kept closed in a protective brief case. ASUS customer service states that their warranty does not cover physical damage to screens. ASUS adds that if the netbook is subjected to pressure (i.E. Squeezed) the screen will fail.
My netbook did not see any pressure other that would be expected under normal use of a netbook.
ASUS offered to repair the screen for $150. I netbook was purchased form BestBuy for $200. I objected to charge because the unit has a manufacturing defect. If the screen prone to fail with when subjected to normal use pressure, this a design flaw and not the responsbility of the consumer. I now notice that the ASUS netbook in closed position is not protected like other similar products.
