I signed up with Simple Escapes to get the premium they offered for trying a free trial period. A free $25 gift card to K-Mart. When I got the information packet, I was informed that I would have to fill out a survey, mail it in and wait for a response for my "free" gift card.
I saved all of the email correspondence and the "TERMS OF MEMBERSHIP AND MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT" for reference. This is an excerpt from the TOM:
"1. Program Offer.By placing your order you are enrolling
in the program and you will be entitled access to all the
money-saving benefits available to program members for the
next 30 days and you will only be charged a $1.00 non
refundable processing fee. Your membership fee of just
$139.95 will automatically be charged to the billing source
authorized by You at the end of the 30-day trial membership
period. If you decide to cancel within the first 30 days,
simply call the toll-free number listed on your Membership
Card and you will owe only the $1.00 processing fee."
I called and cancelled prior to the end of the first 30 days. After noticing that my bank account had been billed on 01-14 for the annual membership fee of $139.95, I called the number associated with the transaction as showed on my bank statement (1-877-836-6903) and got a recorded message that informed me that my account had been cancelled and that if I was scheduled for a refund it would be listed on my account. It also said to reactivate my account call 1-866-993-9663.
I went to the saved emails and found the site: http://www.dealpass.com. I logged in (I was redirected to http://www.simpleescapes123.com) but could not get any information other than my name, address, phone number and email address (all of which I already knew).
I then called the number I found on that site (1-877-443-1941) and spoke with Greg, Agent # 427. I asked to find out the date I cancelled. Greg informed me that my account was still an active account. I assured him that it was not and that I wanted a refund. He was very helpful and courteous. He was not at all mean or nasty about anything. I appreciated that. He cancelled my membership and told me to hold on the line for confirmation.
As I waited, the EXACT SAME recorded message from the first number played. Then I waited and was disconnected. I immediately called back. I unbelievably got Greg again! I asked when I would receive my refund. He let me know it would be in 7 - 10 days.
