I was offerred a free 30 day trial membership with this company thru an online ad. According to the ad, I would receive a $25 K-Mart gift certificate and another gift just for signing up for the trial period. So, I signed up, sent myself an e-mail reminder to cancel within 30 days, and I cancelled online 27 days later.
I never received ANYTHING from this company: Not a membership packet. Not a K-mart gift certificate or other gift, as promised. And no billing statement. NOTHING! So I completely forgot all about ever signing up for the trial. I never used their services (obviously, I could not use their services, since I had no membership number or confirmation).
I cancelled the trial membership in February. Now, 5 months later, I have received my credit card statement and there have been two charges of $149.95 each from Simple Escapes. And I am in the process of researching previous statements, as it looks like they've taken me for even more money. I've never used this credit card & all of a sudden my balance is over $650!
