We purchased an expensive ($460) extended warranty for our refrigerator when new. After almost 3 years, the door made a popping sound and seemed to drop down somewhat when it was opened. There are no children in our home; our appliances are always gently used and we take great care of everything. I called Sears repair which took much patience just to get through the press 1; press 3 rotation. Finally after several tries, I figured out the system and actually talked to someone. I explained the issue. His first recommendation was to tell me how to fix it since it might just be a loose screw. Wow. Did I pay that much for instructions and no service person? I politely said, "No thank you." He seemed surprised and asked if I really wanted a service person to come. I said yes. We were scheduled for more than two weeks out. No problem since it was operable. The day arrives and I am given a 4 hour window when the person may arrive. Two hours into the window, I get an automated call that explains they are behind so I will need to add another 4 hour window to the day or cancel and reschedule. Since this is a weekday, if I was a working person (I am retired, fortunately), it would cost me a day's pay. I want EVERYONE to know that purchases from SEARS are wastes. The products don't hold up and the extended warranty is basically a joke. Buy from anyone, Lowes, Home Depot, locally owned, just don't buy from SEARS. At one time, they were a quality company. That has definitely changed.
