Tune Up... To the Tune of $358.00

Here's a nice little story about a fat man who sits on his a* while he charges his customers out theirs.

My wife went to the ECONO Lube and Tune in Bremerton, WA this morning to get a simple tune up done. She calls me on the cell phone and apparently he's told her we need the fuel lines flushed and he'll do it for 59.95 since we're already getting the tune up done. I said how much originally he tells me 79.95 but since your getting the tune up done we'll do it for 59.95. I said so you want me to pay 59.95 tune up and 59.95 for the fuel line flush. That's about 120.00 he said yes and I told him no, that's too much. If he could do it for 110.00 then that's fine if not then forget it. So, he goes and asks that fat a* guy (manager) that never moves, I swear he's glued to the chair. The mechanic comes back and say's ok we'll do it for that, and I said ok.

Now, I already screwed up sending my wife to a mechanic, even though she does know some things about cars. She proceeds to go to Wal-Mart next door to do a little shopping. I don't blame her I wouldn't want to sit there either and wait. For me I don't trust car mechanics so I sit there and most often I wait in the garage to make sure they are doing what they say they are going to do. Well, she calls me about an hour later, "The mechanic say's the distrubutor cap is bad the wires broken and it needs to replaced." She then puts him on the phone. He goes on to tell me it's bad and that it needs to be replaced and that the valve cover GASKET needs to be replaced. I ask him how much is this stuff. He says 120.00 for the distibutor cap, wires and rotor and another 88.98 to change the valve cover GASKET.

I told him to put my wife on the phone and we'd call them back. I called back after not finding a different mechanic that could do the work that day, and said "Can you give do it for less?" He asked that fat guy, and that fat manager said no, we're already giving you a $30 discount.

I explained to him that $10 isn't $30. I also needed to have the car running, and told my wife to tell them to fix it. The mechanic and his manager failed to tell me that the gasket could have been left alone even though it had a leak. He failed to explain that the Gasket doesn't serve any purpose except seal the valve covers.

I called NAPA for a price on the part he charged me 49.95 and it would cost me 30.00 for the part and about 15 - 20 minutes to replace itmyself. I called them back to cancel and they told me they already replaced the part.

I was fuming, because my wife told me he was in there working on it and she hadn't seen him replace anything at that point. I told the fat manager I wanted 30.00 off for not informing me that the part didn't need to be replaced. He promplty said NO. I then said, that's bad business to not inform your customer when something doesn't need to be replaced, and the car will still run.

After the job was finished my wife started to leave and the check engine light remained on. She turned around went back to the place and asked them to please turn the light off so she would know that everything is fixed. The FAT ASShole said that was another service and it would cost 80.00 more to make the reset the light. SHE WAS MAD, at this point because the job that was supposed to take an hour took 2 hours and they didn't even turn the light off so she would be able to tell if something else went wrong with the motor.

I called them back and asked why he wouldn't turn the check engine light off he told me it would cost another 80.00 and that wasn't part of their service that we paid for. I ask you all. If someone works on your car and say's they fixed something don't they usually make sure everything is working properly and make sure the car is working properly before the customer leaves. Well at this location that's not the case. They want to take you for a ride and I F$%^ed up.

This place is a fraud, the manager is crooked, and oversells parts and labor to their customers. I will never take my car there to get anything done again and I urge anyone reading this to take heed and be careful.
