First, I know nothing about cars. My check engine light came on when my car turned 30K, so i brought it to my neighborhood mechanic. I told him my service light came on and i need the 30k tune-up, also my backup lights do not work. He stated "yes, you need to the 30k tune-up and you have to change the belt @ 30k, because if that belt brakes you will snap your valve stems and your engine will be no good, you can not repair it, you have to replace it. I asked how much would it be to do the tune-up, replace the belt and fix the backup light? Bill told me it would be $450. And he could do it on Monday 3-31.
I had the service and that evening noticed my backup lights didn't work and my service light was still on. I had to go up North the next day, which i do a couple of time per month and I usually use less than a tank of gas for the route, but this time it used almost a tank and 1/4 of fuel.
I returned to Westsede motors and told Bill my backup lights were not working and my car is getting worse gas mileage since you tuned it up, also my service light is still on. He stated a loose fuse was the backup light problem and bring it in and we can take car of it, also we will check out the fuel economy. I went to drop it off and he stated " we just changed your filters and oil, so this would not effect you gas mileage and you must have an electrical short on the backup light, which is not a quick fix, It is going to be 3 to 6 hours labor to fix. (though he already fixed them) He also stated we did not replace the belt because it is not due to be replaced until 60k, even though he put the fear in me thaty my car would self destruct if i did not replace the belt at 30k and was told that was part of the $450 service fee i paid.
So, basically i paid for something he said he was goiing to replace and repair (belt, bakuplights and tune-up) but just got an oil filter and change plus 2 air filters. Even though my labor description on my invoice states i paid for Tune up service and check rear electrical light issue. I feel i was lied to and when i went back he told me a different story from my first encounter.
