We live in California. We refinanced our home through Finance America. Within 10 days our loan was bought by OCWEN. We have had nothing but problems with this company. Three months ago I wrote my mortgage payment for one cent less then mortgage - they returned my check saying they could not accept partial payment. I then wrote my check for the correct amount along with the next months payment since it took OCWEN 25 days to tell me of my mistake. They accessed my account with a hefty penalty and then the phone calls began beginning at 8:00am until 8:00pm. One person on this posting site stated they had a computer generated caller by the name of "Amy" - we had/have "Barbara". When we returned phone calls we would not be able to get through right away and just one of the clinchers to our nightmare is the reps we would talk with were not even in the United States, but in India (because my husband pressed them on this issue - after watching 60 Minutes just the night before).
We are now in our third month nightmare with OCWEN. Yesterday, Friday, February 21 we had a real estate agent come by our home, unannounced, to take photos. When I asked him what he wanted and who sent him he told me OCWEN. He then told my husband that our home was going into foreclosure - we learn this from this guy and not OCWEN - NO Clue this was even happening! He gave us his card and told us he could make us a great offer, but that we shouldn't say anything to OCWEN. He had a comparitive home price list with him and went on and on and on about how beautiful our home was and that with all the equity we had in it (he had all of our financial information as well - knew exactly everything about us) Well... As I researched through Google for information on OCWEN I read that OCWEN makes deals with real estate agents in the areas of their home loans. AND this agent told my husband he had 20 homes just in our area alone he had to visit that day. He also told my husband he would call us today, Saturday, to discuss a much better "deal" other than OCWEN. Well, my feelings are this guy hired by OCWEN is just as much a scammer as OCWEN. Well, now here I am writing this post and getting more upset as I write it. Monday, I am calling a real estate attorney! Wish me luck!
