I opened two accounts with Bank Of America; checking and savings and a CD. The savings was a Maximizer Account and was to offset overdraft protection for the checking account this is what I was told by the Manager. It involved "FREE" checking as well. The CD matured in 6 months at the rate of 4.5 %.
I went PAPERLESS for the statements. I got the first statement and recognized 3 unauthorized debits, I call the 1-800 number; I get a rep who must have not liked her job; her attitude was "We can't do anything about that"! What the hell is the 800 number for then?
She sends me a copy of my statement, which I didn't need I can see it on the computer, as if this was the answer to the unauthorized withdrawl's of $1,800 plus I was charged for the unauthoriized copy. The problem went unresolved I lost the money!
The overdrafts began to come: the maximizer account was to defer those charges.in one months time they racked up over $500 in overdraft fee's. I went in to the bank where I deposited the money only to find a new manager. She goes off to lunch leaving the asst. Manager to "HELP" me. He did refund the overdraft fee's for the past 60 days: he states "I couldn't refund beyond that.
I request "close this maximizer account". His response "you have paychecks wired to the account and that it would take 3 months to stop". I ask "give me a different account then" he states I would still have to pay for the maximizer account? The account was to protect overdrafting of my checking account. IT'S obviously a scam. They began to tax the overdraft fee's with overdraft fee's! I receive the first one on the very day I went into the bank.
However I do have copies of the paperwork the Asst. Manager had to access for the overdraft fee's. I call the 800 number again at a different time than the first time and the rep was helpful and she stopped the paychecks from going into the Maximizer Account. Within one week I received my paper checks. But the Maximizer Account still wasn't deactivated.
