First Capital Consumers Group
Is a consumer ripoff that almost got me, thank god I found this site in time

I think this is the coolest thing to find just before I was about to get "RIPPED OFF". A week ago I got this phone call from this guy saying that he was from "First Capital" and that I had been approved for a "Visa" card with a $2,000.00 Credit limit and a fixed APR of 4.9%. Myself thinking this would be a good thing after a bad devorce I said "sure, what would it hurt?" Then this guy (we'll call him John) said that all he needed was my checking account number so that a 1 (one) time card activation fee could be debited from my checking account, this was going to cover any service charges for as long as I held the card, and it would be sent to me with an information packet in 10 (ten) to 14 (fourteen) days. This sounded good to me so I agreed. Then he told me that if I kept the payments current for 2 (two) months that a "Master Card" with a $2,500.00 credit limit would be sent to me. Thinking this might be a little too good to be true after pondering the thought, I decided to look up the number on "bigfoot.com" reverse look up, and wouldn't you know it, this guy was calling me from Canada and it wasn't "First Capital", it was " First Capital Consumers Group". What an azz, this didn't suprise me so I called and called till I got a "real" person on the other end of the line, I asked this person if the company that she worked for was a bank, or if they were a referal service. She said that they were not a bank, but they were a referal service. DING DING! Not a bank. So I proceded to ask for thier "800" number because the long distance charges to Canada were going to make my phone bill go through the roof, said "let me get my supervisor for the "800" number", when she returned, he said that she was going to have to call me back. Just before I hung up I said "you know what, hold off on that debit from my account". Waiting as the minutes turned to hours, with no returned call. Just for those of you out there that have been scammed, it is not a federal offense for someone to call you from another country asking you for money for credit, that is thier loop hole. However, what "First Capital" obviously didn't know is that it is against the International Trade Agreement for companies to solicate outside of thier country using Copy written names such as "Visa" or "Master Card" for personal gain. Just thought you might like to know so you can persue litigation. PaulNewton, Kansas
