I have heard all over TV and the internet about hotels.com and their low price guarantee. It's even stated right in their logo. I called them to book a room and while I was on hold, I noticed that they had listed a particular hotel for 40% more than Expedia had, same night, room, number of people, etc. When the rep picked up, I asked about this hotel and about the guarantee. She first indicated that there had to be some condition different, that I wasn't comparing the same thing. Then after putting me on hold for 5 minutes, she came back and said, "It's the same but the best we can do is the higher rate that we offer. Do you want me to book it?" Yeah right.
I questioned the "guarantee" and she put me on hold again. Then a "supervisor" got on the phone and told me that in fact there "REALLY IS NO GUARANTEE. WE WILL SIMPLY LET YOU GO ELSEWHERE." This is exactly what she said. Well, anyone can do this! This is misleading and I'm sure people think they have to look no further when booking with them. As you can tell by my post and these others:
Don't use hotels.com. They are ripping people off!!
