I recently used HOTELS.com to book a room for a night. I at first didn't realize that I was even on a site like theirs, but continued on with the booking anyways. The gentleman that I was dealing with told me (LIED!) that I would get the best deal by booking through him, so I did.
I was booking for the same day and only a one nights stay, and I was told that I had to pay up front and could not cancel my booking. This was okay since I had no intentions of cancelling that evening, until I got to the hotel anyway! My husband and I asked what the room rate was because my husband thought what I paid seemed high. I was charged $175 for the single standard room, and the hotels normal rate was only $159 (tax), but had a reduced rate as of that day for $135 (tax)!!! When we confronted HOTELS.com the following day to compain, they told me that I was not supposed to have seen the receipt that shows what THEY paid for the room, which was $135 (tax) for the night! They totally scammed me and I have the proof! I was told by HOTELS.com that they would give me the best rate and that calling the hotel directly to book this room would cost me much more than what they would. BIG LIE!!!
The hotel could do nothing for me and of course neither would HOTELS.com, but trust me when I say that I will NEVER book anything through them again and I will tell everyone I know not to use them as well. They didn't give me the best rate and took advantage of me, and I don't appreciate that. After reading all the complaints against HOTELS.com I honestly can't imagine how they still do business! BUYER BEWARE is the truth when dealing with this company... Won't happen to me again!
