I cam to orbitz and booked a package trip for my daughter and myself to the Grand Cayman Islands. I had been to the travel documentation needed from Orbitz site and this what was said, a visa "or" certified birth cert / original and a legal photo ID. I also check with the State dept of Crand Cayman, this is quoted "US and Canadian citizens, traveling directly to the Caymen Islands from the US or Canada, need only proof of citizenship for entry, such as a passport, or and official birth certificate (not copy) plus photo identifcation (such as a drivers lic.). They do not need Visas.
I went to advance book our seats and boarding pass and it would not allow me to do so.
I called Orbitz after a 4 hour phone call, there operator was not sure what we needed as he was getting conflicting information from the airlines and the state dept. I was asked to call back the next day when we could talk to an individual at the stae dept as it was getting late.
The day of my trip I call at 8:12am est was on the phone until aftter 2:22 pm est at which time orbitz decided I did not do my diligence and can not travel w/o a passport for my 14 yr daughter, They proceeded to cancel my airline tickets with a chance to reuse at a future date time was late to close to travel time I was told. The Motel pacckage was also fofited even the taxes and duties charged to unused roon? That seems to boarder fraud or tax evasion.
Closure they took over 8 hours to learn waht Ias a layman was suppose to know used against me toook my $1,900.00 with out refund. This is fraudulent and extremelypoor practice on any travel agencys parts.
