Crystal Clear Communications
Fraud

On January 14 I was approached by a salesman representing Crystal Clear Communications. Based on his statements I agreed to change my satellite service from Direct Tv to Dish Network, that was a huge mistake on my part. I should have known something was wrong when his shirt and business card had both the Direct Tv and Dish logo. When asked questions regarding the service, the amount and the channel line-up, none of his answers were the truth. Chad Humphrey, the salesman, stated that the channel line-up would be the same, that the service with Dish Network would save me about $25.00 a month, and if I had any problems with the equipment to contact him directly. He also told me that my credit card number was only to verify credit and would not be retained, that was the biggest lie.

The next day the installation tech shows up about 9:00am, at that time, he tracks mud all through my house, he does not run new coax cable (he just moves it from my Direct tv), he does not install the equipment correctly and he leaves us with broken equipment with a promise to return later in the week to replace it. After he leaves, we find out he is the brother of the salesman, Chad Humphrey... Surprise, surprise. We attempted to watch a show, while recording another, the receiver kept switching us back to the program recording, now why have a DVR if you have to watch what you are recording? After an hour of scrolling through the complicated menu and the book, we discovered he had the receiver box on the wrong settings, then it took another hour to clean up all the mud he left behind.

Once we have the the receiver set correctly, we begin looking at the channel line-up, and find that what Chad signed us up for, was not what he told us. We ended up with 3, sometimes 4 of the same channels, a sports package we didn't want, and most of the channels we asked about were not on the line-up. After all of this, and the installation tech had not returned to replace the broken LNB, we decided to cancel the service. Even though the contract states you have three days to cancel with them, when you call to cancel, they refuse to accept the cancelation.

After repeated calls to Crystal Clear, the salesman, and Dish Network, I was finally able to cancel the service. What they don't tell you is that they pick up the equipment, but do not notify Dish Network. If Dish Network does not have confirmation of the equipment being picked up they bill you for it, in my case it would have been $700.00. This is on top of the $399.00 for canceling with Crystal Clear, and $420.00 with Dish Network, and in my case $67.00 for the first month of service. All for a grand total of $1586.00 for less than a weeks worth of service. When they pick up the equipment, they also try to take property that belongs to you. I also found out that when they sent the contract in, I was set up to receive a total of 5 receiver boxes. Please note, I live in a 36ft 5th wheel trailer, why would I need that many receivers when I only have one television?

Now, I have in dispute with my credit card company the charges for early cancelation. After 6 weeks, I am still fighting this. I have filed with the BBB, the credit card company, Dish Network, Direct TV and now here. What they are running is a scam. They misrepresent the companies of Direct TV and Dish, telling people they will save all kinds of money, that your credit card will not be used unless you set up the automatic billing, install broken equipment, do not work with you to try to resolve any issues, and put false information on the contracts.

They have ignored all requests to resolve this issue, billed my credit card for $399.00. They do not return calls, or e-mail. What I have learned is, don't trust this company or their representatives. If you want to sign up with any service, go directly to the company. This type of practice should not be allowed.
